Albula Line Route Add-On

Official Brand Cover of Albula Line.

In Train Simulator Classic, the Albula Line: St Moritz – Thusis expansion is a masterpiece of technical detail and scenic beauty. Developed by Thomson Interactive, this 64 km (40-mile) route brings the UNESCO World Heritage “RhB” (Rhaetian Railway) to life, challenging drivers with extreme elevation changes and complex narrow-gauge physics.

📍 The Route: A Vertical Engineering Marvel

The Albula Line is famous for its “spiral” topography, designed to help trains gain elevation without exceeding a 3.5% gradient.

  • The Climb: You will navigate a dramatic ascent from Thusis (697m) to the alpine resort of St Moritz (1,775m).
  • The Infrastructure: The route features 291 bridges and 91 tunnels, including a high-fidelity recreation of the Landwasser Viaduct, where the track curves directly from a curved bridge into a cliffside tunnel.
  • Albula Tunnel: At nearly 6 km long, this is one of the highest alpine tunnels in Switzerland, crossing the watershed between the Rhine and Danube rivers.

🚆 Rolling Stock & Technical Depth

The star of this pack is the RhB Ge 4/4 III electric locomotive, which features some of the most advanced scripting in the simulator.

  • Dynamic Pantographs: In a technical first for the platform, the locomotive’s pantographs dynamically follow the actual height of the overhead catenary wires.
  • ZSI-90 Safety System: Includes a fully functional Swiss safety system, requiring drivers to acknowledge track magnets and signal aspects to avoid emergency brake applications.
  • The Fleet: Includes all 12 “advertising” liveries for the Ge 4/4 III (such as UNESCO, Coop, and Glacier on Tour), along with panoramic Glacier Express coaches and Lb-v container wagons.
  • Passenger Mode: A unique feature allowing you to “ride along” as a passenger in the panoramic coaches, enjoying the view while the AI handles the driving.
