In Train Simulator Classic, the Yellowhead Pass: Jasper – Valemount route is a stunning 80-mile (128 km) journey through the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Developed by Milepost Simulations, this route captures the sheer scale of the Canadian National (CN) mainline as it crosses the Continental Divide, offering some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in North America.
📍 The Route: The Albreda & Robson Subdivisions
Yellowhead Pass is unique for its “valley running” geography, where the tracks often split to find the best path through the steep terrain.
- Crossing the Divide: You’ll travel from the mountain hub of Jasper, Alberta (elevation 1,062m) across the pass to Valemount, British Columbia.
- The “Spaced-Out” Tracks: On the Robson Subdivision, the eastbound and westbound tracks frequently separate, running on opposite sides of the Fraser River or Moose Lake, providing a unique perspective of the valley that is rare in rail simulation.
- Jasper National Park: The route includes a highly detailed recreation of the Jasper Yard, the engine terminal, and the historic passenger station where VIA Rail’s Canadian still calls today.

The pack focuses on the “Safety Cab” or “Comfort Cab” designs that CN pioneered in the 1970s and 80s, which later became the industry standard.
- GMD GP40-2LW: A 3,000-horsepower four-axle unit featuring the iconic wide-nose Canadian cab.
- SD40-2W: The six-axle workhorse version, perfect for hauling heavy grain and coal drags over the grades.

- CN Yellowhead Pass V1.0.5 (Train Sim Community): This 2025 “Modernization” mod by IC 9612 and TheBrocc updates the textures and assets to current standards. It also adds a new CROR Signal System for much more realistic dispatching.
- Searchlight Simulations Sound Patch: Released in late 2025, this patch applies the high-fidelity EMD 16-645E3 Enhancement Pack to the included locomotives, replacing the default audio with professional-grade recordings of real SD40-2 engines.
- AP Weather 2.0 Integration: The V1.0.5 mod is now designed to take full advantage of Armstrong Powerhouse Weather 2.0, providing realistic Rocky Mountain snowstorms and lighting.
